Since it is pure, it evaporates completely and it does not leave gum remainings. This is important, because it does not affect to tonalities and drying time, and also it does not deteriorate during stock. Old Wood thinner evaporates a bit slower than turpentine or other solvents, and therefore keeps the film open a bit longer allowing a better application and an excellencent varnish leveling over the instrument surface. Old Wood thinner is an effective substitute of turpentine and other solvents, that can be used when formulating varnishes or for cleaning tools.
